Interview Summary
Mae Shrewsbury, a local woman from Appalachia, worked with the Appalachian Volunteers and the Volunteers in Service to America in community action groups working to improve roads, schools, and tax policies in the 1960s. She talks about her first meeting with Appalachian Volunteers and why she became involved with them. She talks about various projects they took on and the opposition they faced.
