Kentucky History: Iroquois Hunt Club Oral History Project

Project Summary

The Iroquois Hunt Club is a foxhunting club, now located on Grimes Mill Road in Lexington, Kentucky. Comprised of about 150 families, this group is currently permitted to hunt in a ten square mile area of farmland. This oral history project discusses hunt club experiences, beginning in the 1920s. Topics include horses used for the hunts, horseshows, the Iroquois foxhound, hunt races, and social club activities. Also discussed in detail are people associated with the hunt club, particularly various field masters.
