Interview Summary
Steve Werner served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Korea from 1976 to 1978 and then as a Peace Corps Response Volunteer in Georgia from 2016 - 2017. Prior to Peace Corps, Steve had a job at a public health laboratory and cancer research lab. Before joining Response in Georgia, he worked for international nonprofit organizations. Steve’s South Korea training cohort was K-38 and G-21 in Georgia. His pre-service training in language, culture, and technical training were conducted in Korea in the city of Cheong-ju and in Georgia in the capital city of Tbilisi . His site assignment was in Mokpo, Korea where he worked Tuberculosis Control in the health sector and in Tbilisi, Georgia at a Ministry office helping to build capacity. Steve also engaged in secondary projects teaching English and developing water and sanitation initiatives. He completed his Korean service and began graduate school. Following Georgia, Steve returned to his international development consulting work.Interview Accession
