Interview Summary

This interview with former Kentucky governor John Young Brown, Jr. focuses mainly on his early life from childhood through high school. He discusses his family history, on both his mother and father's sides of the family. Brown talks about his relationships with his mother, father, and sisters, and discusses the relationship between his parents. He talks about how his father's political career affected his family.

Brown discusses the neighborhood where he grew up, including his neighbors, his home, and his friends. He talks about his participation in school sports as a child, especially golf. He talks about the schools he attended, and talks about why his father sent him to the Kentucky Military Institute. He talks about disliking school. He talks about some of the jobs he worked while in high school.
