Interview Summary
Dr. William Markesbery (Medical School Student, 1960-1964; Professor, Department of Neurology, Pathology, Neurosurgery, Anatomy and Neurobiology; Director, Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, Director, Alzheimer's Disease Center, Commonwealth Chair in Aging, 1972-2010) discusses his childhood in Florence, KY, his interest in sports, his decision to enter medical school, and the experience of being a student in the first class of the UK Medical School. He remembers medical school fondly, speaking about his classmates, influential teachers, and the excellent education he felt he received. Returning to UK as an associate professor in the Department of Neurology in 1972, Markesbery discusses the changes from his medical school days and the subsequent growth of the Med Center.Interview Accession
