Interview Summary

Claudia Schecter was involved with the Fair Elections Committee in Mingo County in the 1960s. In this interview she discusses the political corruption in Mingo County and the committee's efforts to reduce it by purging voter rolls of fraudulent voters. She discusses the arrest of several committee members as well as the group's trip to the Department of Justice in Washington D.C. She talks about the impact the committee had on elections in the area and the impact her time with the group had on her own life.
