Interview Summary
Dr. Elvis J. Stahr, Jr. (Professor of law at the University of Kentucky 1947, Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law 1948-1957, Provost of the University of Kentucky 1954-1957) served as chairman of the first exploratory committee for a University of Kentucky Medical Center in the fifties. In this interview, Stahr discusses the process undertaken before the establishment of the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He compares that process to other universities he was a part of which also underwent historic medical education changes while he was employed. In addition, Stahr discusses in detail his career after the University of Kentucky and his service as Secretary of the Army and university president.Interview Accession
