Interview Summary

Dorrin Rosenfeld served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize for several months in 1985 until she was evacuated because of a severe head injury she sustained after she was hit by a tortilla truck while walking down the road. After 1.5 years of hospitalization in the U.S., she returned to Belize in December 1987 to serve out her tour of duty. She first taught chemistry at the Muffles College in Orange Walk Town and after her return taught biology at the same school. While in Belize she went to a chiropractor, who greatly improved her functionality. She decided to become a chiropractor herself and with her husband, a fellow chiropractor with a head injury. Today, they both provide upper cervical treatments. She credits Peace Corps with helping her find her passion and for providing for her medical needs. Rosenfeld then expresses her frustration with the Federal Employees' Compensation Program.
