Jan Smith grew up in east Tennessee and Middlesboro, Kentucky. Both her parents gardened and grew up in gardening families. This interview is particularly rich in philosophical and existential musing and insights about gardening and its relationship to place, to our souls, and to a meaningful life well-lived.
