Interview Summary
Bernie Dunigan is a retired Vietnam Veteran who served in the Transportation Corps and now lives in Chester County, Mr. Dunigan served in the United States Military in 1964-1966. Mr. Dunigan talked about his experiences from growing up in West Philadelphia to his experiences serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Dunigan talked about how he felt pride when he was drafted to serve in the Military and how scared his mother was. Mr. Dunigan tells us the about the journey he took from the day he received his draft letter until the day he first touched down in Vietnam. Mr. Dunigan explains the day to day life of a service member in the Transportation Corps. During his tour in Vietnam Mr. Dunigan was promoted to being the driver of several Colonels. He also tells us about the story of how he crashed one of the trucks early in his tour during a convoy. Later in the interview Mr. Dunigan talked about how his feelings changed about the Vietnamese people and how he rationalized being in war as a young man.Interview Accession
