Interview Summary
Garry E. Boling was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1966. In this interview, he describes his personal background. He talks about his childhood in Mount Carmel and Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He talks about his family, chores on his family's farm, childhood activities and recreation, television, and sports. He talks about his awareness of race relations, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War. He talks about his reaction to being drafted, and his experiences in basic training and Advanced Infantry Training (AIT) in Fort Knox and Fort Polk.Interview Accession
