Barbara Kingsolver discusses her family history, childhood experiences, and her educational background. She describes her experiences living in Africa and island of St. Lucia, her early interest in writing, and living in Tucson Arizona. She talks about the influence of Bobbie Ann Mason, Kingsolver's publishing history, obtaining an agent, writing for oneself vs. writing for an audience, and her writing habits.
