Interview Summary
This is an interview with Jack Heinzel, a survivor of the infamous Japanese "hell ships" of World War II. In this interview, Heinzel and several others survivors, including Russell Hutchinson, tell how they were able to survive the crowded conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, and lack of food and water on board the Oryoku Maru, Enoura Maru, and Brazil Maru. They also talk about how the Oryoku Maru was bombed by the American forces, and how they survived this bombing.Interview Accession
