Interview Summary

Charles H. Quillings, born in Muskogee, OK, in 1920, came to Kentucky to attend Kentucky State College where he was a member of the Kentucky State Collegiate Band. He graduated in 1942 and was drafted into the Army. He served during WWII and was a trumpet player in the 204th Army Ground Forces Band. Quillings was a band instructor at Dunbar High School in Lexington, KY. The Dunbar High School Band played at Douglass Park on Sunday afternoons.
