Interview Summary

Clayton E. Stoess, a native of Crestwood, Kentucky, served in the United States Navy aboard a minesweeper during World War II. Stoess went to training in New York City at Columbia University. While overseas, Stoess participated in D-Day and was sent to the Pacific theater after V-J Day to clear mines in the bays of Japan. Stoess was discharged from the military and returned home in 1947.
