Interview Summary
Mr. Embry graduated from high school in Covington in 1967 and from the University of Kentucky in 1974 and is employed as Education Counselor for the Recruitment and Training Program of the University of Kentucky. He was a member of ORGENA, organized to help African American students cope with social problems found on campus. Mr. Embry discusses the formation of the Black Student Union in 1968 and its relationship with the University administration. He recalls the attempt to burn down the ROTC building in 1969, the relationship between other African American civil rights organizations within the community, and gives a brief history of the Recruitment and Training Program.Interview Accession
