Interview Summary

In this interview, John D. Ruark discusses his friendship and professional relationship with Senator Earle C. Clements. He talks about first meeting Clements, his impressions of Clements, and Clements' professional career and personal life. Ruark also describes Clements' influence on his political career. He talks about Bert T. Combs' defeat in the 1955 gubernatorial campaign and Clements' senatorial defeat in 1956. Ruark also discusses Bert T. Combs' successful campaign in 1959.
