Interview Summary
Dominican Republic, 1968-1970, Community Development and Education Bill Miller grew up in Louisville, Kentucky in a blue-collar family. He studied at the United Electronics Laboratory learning the electrical trade. He then graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology. Admiring JFK, Bill was drawn to the Peace Corps upon graduation. Bill was trained at Camp Crozier in Spanish, cultural orientation, and community development. Bill was assigned by the Office of Community Development to a small community of 34 houses, El Rancho, outside of Salcedo, Dominican Republic. He assisted in the building of a school and a farm to market road. He also formed a youth social club promoting literacy. In his second year, Bill taught a social science research course at the Madre y Maestra University in Santiago with a practicum placing students with NGOs. Post Peace Corps, Bill continued on an international path culminating in creating the Global Connections Television company - www.globalconnectionstelevision.com.Interview Accession
