Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Lauren Hust served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in North Macedonia from 2017 to 2019. Prior to Peace Corps, Lauren had a career in education as a third grade teacher at a public elementary school. After a few years of teaching, Lauren decided to make real her dream of joining Peace Corps. Lauren’s training cohort was MAK22. Her pre-service training in language, culture, and technical training were conducted in Lozovo. Her site assignment was in the City of Stip working at a public elementary school co-teaching English. Lauren also engaged in secondary projects providing Macedonian youth with opportunities for leadership development, volunteer service, and English language improvement. She was also an active contributor and editor for the social media accounts of Peace Corps North Macedonia and a key member of the team organizing two week-long national youth leadership camps . After Lauren completed her Peace Corps service, she traveled in Europe, Asia and the United States and tutored English online before beginning graduate school in Massachusetts.Interview Accession
