Interview Summary
Johnson talks about how he got his job as the assistant coach for Coach Richard Vimont and how he got to be head coach. He talks about how the team improved when they started playing better teams. He talks about how Title IX helped the men's tennis team succeed. Johnson talks about the tennis facilities at UK when he first started working there. He talks about writing a letter about the University of Alabama coach who hindered getting tournament dates changed, then getting sued over it, then beating them in a tennis match. He discusses various players, including Doug Tough, Glen Booth, Scott Smith, and Jack Webb. Johnson talks about his assistant coaches and their impact on the tennis program. Johnson talks about his shortcomings in his lack of control on their alcohol and drug use. He adds stories of a couple games.Interview Accession
