Interview Summary
Dr. White discussed how she became president of Elizabethtown Community College and the early days of her presidency; the KCTCS presidential search; her early interactions with Dr. Michael McCall and his relationship with the college presidents and technical directors; residual feelings from higher education reform (House Bill 1); the consolidation of the technical and community colleges, and the relationship between the two, particularly in Elizabethtown; the issue of tenure in the community college system; her leadership of ECTC, including campus expansions, the development of the Walter Kelly Campus, ECTC?s partnership with local medical centers and industry (especially the automotive industry), its emphasis on veterans, its transfer agreements with other state universities. She also discussed her earlier career as a nurse and how it has influenced her work in community and technical colleges.Interview Accession
