Interview Summary

Harry N. Sykes gives an overview of his family and early years as a basketball player who became an educator, politician, and civil rights leader in Lexington, Kentucky. He also shares his views as to how sports played a role in addressing prejudice and segregation in the schools. He talks quite a bit about fair housing, health, education, Lexington city government, and employment for African Americans during desegregation.
