Interview Summary

David Rotenizer interviews Charles Shouse about his life and how his family came to their farm on Cane Creek. Shouse describes his family's moves to find work in the 1920s and 1930s including railroad construction in Indianapolis, Indiana and carpentry in Covington, Kentucky as well as his family's moves to tenant farms. Later, they settled on his grandfather's farm in Cane Creek where Charles raised and sold dairy cattle and pigs, corn, tobacco and hemp.
