Interview Summary

A. B. Happy Chandler, born in Corydon, KY, was the second commissioner of Major League baseball, 1945 to 1951. In 1982, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In this interview, he discusses topics such as the integration of Major League baseball, the reaction that team owners had to this, his own role in this as baseball commissioner, his work as governor on behalf of African Americans, and Leo Durocher's poor behavior and unsavory associates.
