Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
After the completion of his Volunteer service, Randy was hired on contract as a Peace Corps regional trainer for Latin America. He implemented the first 12 week family live in training program. He also worked with an experimental family Volunteer training program. As a management analyst, he produced a guide for an Integrated Planning and Budget System (IPBS) for the agency and a global staffing study. As a Deputy Director in OTAPS he oversaw a team of specialists providing program and training advice to field staff. As the Regional Program and Training Officer (PTO) he worked with a team to develop a Program and Training Guide for the field. In addition, he created a role for Senior Host Country APCDs as advisors to their peers. As democracy returned to the Region, Randy did new and re-entry country assessments for Argentina, El Salvador, Guyana, Haiti, and Suriname. He also notes the important role regional and in-country staff have in affecting long-term systemic changes. Randy ended his career as a Supervisor of the Evaluation and Training Unit in OPATS rolling out a digital Volunteer Report Form (VRF) used globally.Interview Accession
