Interview Summary

Kim McLean, an Australian quiltmaker, discusses her love for quilting, including how she became interested in quilting, the earliest encounter with quilts that she remembers, the local quiltmakers that she teaches in Australia, and the quilts that were present at the interview. She talks about her family's support of her hobby and the different characteristics that she thinks make a powerful quilt and quilter. Also, the presence of quilts in Australian museums and the possibility of her quilts being in a museum is discussed in depth.
