Interview Summary

Abraham Swen-Peters describes his schooling in Monrovia, Liberia until civil war began in 1989, and then talks about how he walked 150 miles to the Sierra Leone border. He tells of working for Youth with a Mission in Freetown, Sierra Leone for 16 years before coming to the U.S. as a refugee. He describes working for Amazon.com, Inc. in Lexington as well as Bluegrass Mental Health and Retardation. He describes in detail his efforts to reunite his mother whom he has brought to the U.S. with her sister now in Great Britain whom she has never seen. He tells of his hope of education for his two sons and his own efforts to get a college degree at age 47.
