Interview Summary

Mentioning his family members and others in the community, Donald S. Carter talks about how the community of Hall changed from Black to White and why, and the community history and name changes of various communities. He also discusses the waterways of the community, the distillery business, housing, education, race relations, and the law officers. He also talks about how families lived and other activities, such as making moonshine. He gives details of the eviction of African American families from Camp Nelson during the Civil War, and how many froze to death and were later found in neighbors' barns and sheds.
