Interview Summary
Professor Charles P. Roland interviews former U.S. Senator and Kentucky Governor Albert B. "Happy" Chandler. He asks Chandler some miscellaneous questions in regard to Chandler's life and career. Chandler discusses moving to Corydon, Kentucky during his childhood after his mother abandoned his family. He talks about his experience in the military, his marriage to his wife and her relationship to Senator Harry Byrd, and her family. He also tells Roland about the side jobs he held during his early career as a lawyer, including teaching high school history in Versailles and coaching football at Centre College. Chandler details his friendship with entertainer Bob Hope and tells some anecdotes related to their long friendship.Interview Accession
