Kentucky History: 1960 Presidential Election Oral History Project

Project Summary

This project focuses on the religious issues of the presidential election of 1960, specifically in Kentucky. Due to the spirit of anti-Catholicism as a result of the Ku Klux Klan's influence, John F. Kennedy lost the support of Kentucky. Interviewees, consisting of journalists, politicians, and others that were involved in politics during the time of the election, discuss their opinions of how Kennedy's Catholicism influenced the vote in Kentucky.
