Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project

Interview Summary

John Preissing served as a Peace Corps Volunteer focusing on improving agriculture practices with the community of El Rosal, in the province of Tungurahua in Ecuador in the 1980s. John served with his wife, Peggy. The investment in their projects and the deep connection to the community. led John and Peggy to extend their service for a third year. John's (and Peggy's) most significant work during his service led to the construction of a potable water system for El Rosal. John (and Peggy) returned 30 years later to their community of service to witness the continued evolution and sustainability of clean water in El Rosal and were celebrated by the community for their service.
