Interview Summary

Keene gives a brief summary of his life and describes developing an interest in aviation prior to working in hospital administration. Keene shares the struggle of shifting funds to keep hospital operations running as it is, explaining how cost shifting works to cover operating costs. Keene then shares challenges that he faced during the strike at United Methodist Hospital as the hospital board faced staffing shortages and struggled to get supplies. Keene stresses the role of a non-profit hospital in being for the patients, and that the purpose of United Methodist Hospital is to care for patients. Keene then shares his goals and plans for the future of the hospital, including an expansion, and projects an increase in demand for hospital services.
