Interview Summary
Sadie Stidham's father, Isaac Wells, served on the first Frontier Nursing Service committee and attended the organizational meeting in Frankfort. She describes the fee structure of FNS medical services and the types of treatment offered. At a later time, she became a member of the Beech Fork Committee, and she discusses Mary Breckinridge's work with that committee. Juder Stidham recalls particular incidents such as the time he helped carry a woman two miles to the hospital in Hyden. He also comments upon the effects of the Great Depression and the importance of the FNS during that period. Children of the Stidhams were born at the hospital in Hyden.Interview Accession
