Interview Summary

In this interview, Susan Schmidt Horning talks with arranger, composer, and music producer Alan Lorber. It begins with a brief overview of Lorber's career and then moves to discuss his work at Bell Sound Studios, including his collaborations with audio engineer Phil Spector. He then moves on to talk about high fidelity recording.

Lorber then talks about arranging for singer Neil Sedaka and the changes brought about by multi-track recording, including the rise of self-contained bands. Finally, Lorber discusses his work in Nashville (Tenn.).
