Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project

Interview Summary

Glenn Black served in Ecuador from 1977 - 1979 in the town of Sebadas in the province of Canar. Black's work experience in construction led him to help in the building of schools as part of the Rural Infrastructure program. In the middle of his service, during a long bus ride from Cuenca to Quito, Black realized his desire to "do this for the rest of his life." After his Peace Corps service, Black continued working with international NGOs, like the United Nations and Habitat for Humanity, in infrastructure and project management for over 40 years and continues to volunteer in Thailand while living in retirement.
