Interview Summary

This interview with Judge Executive James Garrison begins with a discussion of when and where he was born. He talks about his childhood in Clay County (Ky.) and describes his childhood home. He then talks about playing marbles and playing outdoors with his friends, brothers, and sisters. Garrison also talks at length about canning food and using cellars for refrigeration. He then discusses how his family obtained water and disposed of waste. Next, Garrison talks about how his trash is disposed of currently. He then talks about his involvement with Eastern Kentucky Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE). Finally, Garrison discusses the problem of illegal dumping and littering in Eastern Kentucky.
