Interview Summary

Ishmael discusses his work at the Department of Transportation. He discusses the beginning of PRIDE and his interesting working conditions. Ishmael discusses the speed of PRIDE's growth and the criticism and doubt he ran into along the way. Ishmael talks about working with Cawood Ledford. Ishmael also discusses the various PRIDE programs, including dump cleanups, straight pipe elimination, and education. Ishmael discusses cleaning up rivers and streams. Ishmael talks about the abundance of old tires and their potential for use as a fuel source. Ishmael discusses household appliance buyback programs. Ishmael also talks about his current job as Community and Business Development Manager and the need to bring the arts back into Eastern Kentucky. Finally, Ishmael tells a story about being lobbied by organizations against the bottle bill because of name confusion on a news story.
