Interview Summary

Author and journalist Doug Segrest talks at length about collaborating with theater director, actress, and playwright Kristy Meanor to turn his book "A Storm Came Up" into a theater production during the COVID-19 lockdown. The two talk about the play, the characters, and the unexpected similarities between the story's setting in early 1960s Jim Crow desegregation and the 2020 summer of Black Lives Matter protests. Segrest, like Meanor's earlier interview in this series, also describes his life and livelihood in the COVID-19 era and ideas for what the future may look like when the world returns from isolation.
