Interview Summary

Mildred Watkins Chandler, the wife of former Kentucky governor and politician Albert B. Chandler, discusses the details of her husband's political career along with her son, Ben Chandler. They talk about Chandler's return to Kentucky politics and his successful campaign in 1955 for Kentucky governor. They discuss the details of his campaign style and activities while in office, including desegregation and the building of the University of Kentucky medical school. They talk about his failed campaigns for governor in 1963 and 1967. They discuss the campaign activities of Chandler's appointments as well as his support of other political candidates. M. and B. Chandler talk about some of A. B. Chandler's activities while on the Board of Trustees at the University of Kentucky during the late 1960s.
