Interview Summary
In this interview David B. Downey describes growing up in a large family that lived in Flat Rock (Little Rock), Kentucky, then moving to a rural community, then moving to town, Paris, Kentucky to a three room house. He discusses the employment of his parents and available jobs for African Americans in Bourbon County. Downey also talks about his military career and travels about the United States, segregation in the military and in Paris, Kentucky, and coming back to Paris to raise his two children. In addition, he discusses his career as a bus driver, getting along with others, church, and the success of his bowling career.Interview Accession
