Interview Summary
DeVo’n Espinoza was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea from 2017-2019 as a public health volunteer, and a community health Response Volunteer in Liberia from 2019 until his evacuation due to COVID-19 in 2020. He describes his history in community service and his life in training and at his site. He is proud of his work helping to get together resources for the repair of the 3 deep water wells in his village, and his dedication to making the work sustainable. A few months after returning home, he went to Liberia as a Response Volunteer, where he worked at a health center and with local village health promotion volunteers facilitating their work/activities in the communities in which they live. He also speaks about the importance of Peace Corps supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and constant awareness of white privilege. He was evacuated in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Interview Accession
