Interview Summary
Alexander Schneider served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in an education program in Ukraine from 2008-10. He discusses his motivation to join the Peace Corps; praises training and the homestay experience during training. He talks about living and teaching at a specialized boarding school in Uzhhorod in far southwest Ukraine; helping with teacher training at a regional methodological institute; and participation in summer camps, tutoring and an after school English club. He thinks that he had more impact with the latter activities than with teaching. He discusses the political atmosphere between the Orange Revolution and the Russian invasion, and the plight of the Roma and Jewish populations in the region. He discusses RPCV actions to help Ukrainians post invasion. He concludes talking about how the Peace Corps experience changed the direction of his life and his continuing affinity to other RPCVs.Interview Accession
