Interview Summary
Bailey Patterson is a multiply-disabled activist from Jabez, Kentucky, and is an Interdisciplinary Disability Studies and Theater major at University of Kentucky at the time of interview. In this interview, Bailey discusses their experiences and history with disability justice and mad pride. They discuss the complicated history of disability in Appalachian Kentucky, including discussing the history of institutionalization, community support and health needs, as well as factors leading to high rates of disablement. Bailey also discusses accessibility in Jabez versus in Lexington and at the University of Kentucky, and discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the disabled community.Interview Accession
