Interview Summary
William "Bill" White begins the interview by explaining his childhood and how he grew up. He then began discussing about politics and how his upbringing shaped his outlook on his military experience. He volunteered for the Marines right after high school. He then began his marine career with bootcamp at Parris Island and then continued into his first deployment to Vietnam on his birthday October 21, 1966. He was 20 years old. He continued on with his experiences in his first deployment in Vietnam with the Batman Squadron. He then returned to the United States later that year for one month. He then was deployed again in that same year and remained over there until 1967 when he returned home for the final time. During his second deployment, he was apart of the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) where he would guide helicoptors into jungle areas to drop off more soldiers and collect the injured. He talks about how he was injured twice during his times in Vietnam. Later in his interview, he discussed his transition from military to civilian life.Interview Accession
