Interview with Rudolph "Rudy" Ricca, April 2, 2019
Project: I Remember When: Times Gone But Not Forgotten Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Born to an American father and an Italian mother, Rudolph "Rudy" Ricca grew up intrigued with American values of democracy and freedom. After eagerly coming to America to be drafted into the Korean War (however he arrived too late), Rudy established residency in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his mother, brother, and cousins where he eventually met the love of his life at age twenty-one. Rudy explains overcoming the struggles of apprenticeship as a carpenter, while reminiscing on the frightening memories of Mussolini's reign in 1940s fascist Italy. Building his business from the ground up with integrity, a strong work ethic, and passion for craftsmanship, Rudy's life demonstrates the real-life, humble American dream.Interview Accession
