Interview Summary

Nicholas Konstantine Flessas completed Peace Corps training for service in a health program in Ghana and was sworn in as a volunteer in March 2020 just before being evacuated because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. He talks about being motivated to join the Peace Corps to work in Tanzania and learn Swahili to further his academic and career goals. He says that his brief experience in Ghana broadened his interests and he benefited from the experience. He says that two-thirds of Peace Corps’ work is cultural. He hopes to rejoin the Peace Corps when volunteers go back in the field and wonders what Peace Corps will look like after the pandemic.
