Interview Summary
William Hampton Allison, Jr. was born in Paris, Kentucky on December 30, 1942. His father served 20 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a sergeant major. Bill grew up in Louisville, KY and Charlestown, Indiana, and graduated in 1961 from the American Military High School in Heidelberg, Germany where his father was stationed for two years. He enrolled at the Heidelberg branch campus of the University of Maryland in the fall of 1961 before transferring to the University of Kentucky for his sophomore year. He graduated with a B.A. in English Literature in 1965, enrolled in the U.K. Law School and graduated in 1969. In this interview he discusses his experiences on campus during the 1965-1966 academic year, campus Civil Rights cases, and other Civil Rights cases he participated in.Interview Accession
