Interview Summary
James K. Stacey II, the son of a University of Kentucky County Extension Service agent, was born in Richmond, KY but grew up in Pikeville, McKee, Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Somerset KY. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1960 after graduating from Pulaski County High School. After he completed his basic training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, and Language School in Monterey, California, he was stationed in Berlin, West Germany. After his discharge he enrolled at Asbury College in 1963 before transferring to the University of Kentucky and earned a degree in English in 1967, whereupon he enrolled in Graduate School for a year. He later enrolled in the U.K. Law School in 1972. In this interview he discusses getting discharged from the army and enrolling first at Asbury College in Wilmore, KY for a quarter before transferring to the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1963.Interview Accession
