Interview Summary
Roger Lewis served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a 40-person architecture program in Tunisia from 1964-66. He discusses his motivation to join the Peace Corps and training at the University of Utah. He discusses working with counterparts on over 30 diverse projects with the Ministry of Public Works and the impact of this early experience on his career as an architect and educator. He talks about lifelong friendships linked to Peace Corps. He tells stories of traveling in Tunisia, the region and Europe, living and owning a car with counterparts and fellow PCVs and Peace Corps staff not knowing about numerous infractions of the rules. He discusses his efforts to build a Peace Corps Commemorative in Washington DC dedicated to the enduring American ideals that motivated its founding and are expressed in Peace Corps service.Interview Accession
