Interview Summary

John Dye served in Kumasi, Ghana in 1973-1976 and worked with machines for low cost housing. His wife joined him as a "non-matrix spouse". During his time in Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana, he worked at the University of Science and Technology. John and his wife enjoyed working, traveling via motorcycle, experiencing cultural events on the Gold Coast, and exploring. His typical work day was drafting designs for adobe/cement housing blocks and building prototypes. John also served in Guadalajara and Queretaro, Mexico in 2010-2013. He worked in technology transfer at a biotech research center to develop IT systems. His wife, Barbara Dye, was also a PCV there. John helped local researchers write and publish papers in English and wrote the English version of the IT web-site. Furthermore, he taught English classes and assisted researchers with English language presentations.
